How to change your nameservers
by Owen Mundy, March 15th, 2010
Nameservers tell your domain name registrar how to find your files on the YourArtHere.net webserver. They are a required part of the Domain Name System (DNS) that translates your domain name into Internet Protocal (IP) addresses. Without them you would have to give others a string of ambiguous numbers to share your website instead of yourname.com
To set the nameservers if your domain name is registered with godaddy.com
- Log into your godaddy.com account
- Click Domains
- Click Domain Manager
- Click on the name of your domain in the list
- Look for Nameservers and click Manage
- Replace their nameserver 1 and nameserver 2 with the following:
- Click OK
- Changes can take up to 48 hours to take effect (though it is usally much quicker).
