How to change your nameservers

by Owen Mundy, March 15th, 2010

Nameservers tell your domain name registrar how to find your files on the YourArtHere.net webserver. They are a required part of the Domain Name System (DNS) that translates your domain name into Internet Protocal (IP) addresses. Without them you would have to give others a string of ambiguous numbers to share your website instead of yourname.com

To set the nameservers if your domain name is registered with godaddy.com or bluerazor.com

  1. Log into your godaddy.com or bluerazor.com account
  2. Click Domains
  3. Click Domain Manager
  4. Click on the name of your domain in the list
  5. Look for Nameservers and click Manage
  6. Replace their nameserver 1 and nameserver 2 with: ns1.nameserverservice.com and ns2.nameserverservice.com
  7. Click OK
