Eat, Don't Walk

My work falls into the abstract impressionist category. I like to open and drag the camera's shutter to paint with the lights of the city or wherever i happen to be. My work is shot in camera, the only things i do in photoshop are resizing, occasionally very slight color correction, and even more rarely cropping. Because of my training using film, i view the digital file more like a negative than a starting point for further digital manipulation. I'm from Union, NJ. I studied photography, film-making, and audio production at NJCU in Jersey City. After College I worked in the film industry for a number of years as an AC and remote head technician in the International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600). I enjoyed the work for a while but felt a serious artistic void in my life. Now I'm concentrating more on my art, rather than being a cog in the commercial moviemaking machine. In my post film industry years I became involved in the Jersey City arts scene. I was a resident at 143 Christopher Columbus (AKA The Waterbug Hotel) and had my first post collegiate exhibition at the Lex Leonard Gallery. My Current Show Pyrology is showing at Boca Grande in the Newport section of Jersey City.
