For me, art is primarily about aesthetics and I generally believe that art should be aesthetically pleasing or at least able to catch and hold the attention of the viewer. I make art because I like the idea of creating something that is unique to how my mind works. For me, art isn't just about the end result but also about the process of making it; if I don't have a good time making a piece or at least learn something from it, whether it's a skill or something about myself, then I will probably try to avoid using the same medium(s) again.
I try to incorporate different elements in my work and try out new things. Ever since I became interested in design, I was attracted to intricate henna patterns and the symmetry of arabesque designs and tend to implement a lot of these elements in my work. I also tend to use a lot of saturated color in my pieces, especially bright colors like reds and yellows.
I currently attend Florida State University in Tallahassee and am working on completing my BFA in Design by spring 2011.
